2015 Tile Trends
We bring you the latest tile trends straight from Spain
We’re always on the hunt for anything new and beautiful at Myaree Ceramics – which is why we were so excited to visit Cevisama 2015 in Valencia. Spain is known for its gorgeous decorative tiles, and the exhibitors at Cevisama were no exception. Showcasing the latest developments in ceramic tiles, bathroom equipment and natural stone as well as bricks and other materials, this exhibit is an international celebration of ceramics, attracting distributors, architects, press and interior designers from over 144 countries. According to the 2015 press release issued post-show, Cevisama 2015 exceeded 75,000 visitors!
This year, there were some great designs on show: 3D geometrical tiles, embossed tiles that look like pressed tin, and colourful patterned tiles that are suitable for floors were all prevalent. Trends certainly veered toward the graphic – whether embossed or printed, linear design is definitely in.
One of the other noticeable trends at Cevisama was extremely realistic wood look tiles as well as marble looking tiles. The latest printing techniques allow ceramic and porcelain tile products to now look almost exactly like natural wood and polished marble.
Tile technology is always interesting to watch at the fairs, and it has certainly progressed in terms of tile production. It seems that tiles are still getting bigger and more impressive, with the largest formats up to 1m x 3m – but the standard 200x200mm still making a strong showing.
In terms of colour, there is a shift towards the metallic, with bronze and gold featuring heavily in both matt and gloss finishes. The colour palette seem to be shifting more towards the warm tones and soft washes in cream, browns and terracotta are back.
